broken for you." About halfway through, I was serving an individual with whom I have been at odds with this past year. As I was repeating my line to him, I was overcome by the knowledge that not only did Christ die for me, but He died for this individual as well. This was not new knowledge, but instead affirmation that if Christ died for each person, I have no right to bear grudges or be at odds with anyone. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus has put us all on
"level ground." In a world where you are defined by material things, education, skin color, it is a humbling thing to know we all come to the Cross as equals, that Jesus does not see any of this.
I like the way that Jars of Clay puts this realization of undeserving grace in their song "Worlds Apart." It says:
All said and done I stand alone
Amongst remains of a life I should not own
It takes all I am to believe
In the mercy that covers me
Did You really have to die for me?
All I am for all You are
What I need and what I believe are worlds apart
